Before seeing someone, I like to have a brief chat with them to establish that homeopathy is the best solution to their problem at that particular time. This usually happens by phone. Sometimes I ask people to delay seeing me in order for test or x-ray results to come through. At other times I may ask them to visit their GP for a diagnosis first.
Once we’ve made an appointment, I will send you the Society’s leaflet Homeopathy Simply Explained, a resume of my qualifications, my fees, a map locating my practice and a note confirming the date and time of our appointment.
Allow two hours if you’re an adult and it’s your first consultation. Sometimes we won’t need that long but there’s usually quite a lot to talk about! Follow-ups take between half and hour and an hour. It all depends on what’s been happening to you in the interim. A child’s consultation can take up to an hour with follow-ups taking half that time.
In order to find the best remedy for you as an individual, I will need to know all about you. A detailed understanding of who you are, along with any complaints and details of how you experience them, is needed to assess your case correctly. So anything you can tell me that is typical of who you are will help with this process. It is important to find out about your general energy level, the way you live and your past medical history too. I record your words and my observations. Your case notes are kept securely and are yours to see at any time. Everything you tell me is treated in the strictest confidence.
It is very hard to know how long a complaint will take to clear up but by the end of the first consultation I will try to give each person an idea of how long I think we should proceed with treatment and how often I should like to see them. At the follow-up I offer you the chance to see my analysis and to discuss how I arrived at your particular remedy. If you want to know more about your remedy and about homeopathy I can steer you in the right direction.
The process of getting someone back to health is a dynamic and interactive one and I like to hear from my patients along the way, especially when they experience any changes. For this reason my fees include a charge to cover time spent on the telephone with me between consultations. I have regular evening phone-in times and always leave details of how I can be contacted.
